Toronto Harmony Music Festival -Guzheng Singing and Dancing Special Performance
On the afternoon of August 18th, the fourth concert of the 2024 Toronto Harmony Music Festival, titled “Melodies of Strings and National Music Gems,” was held at the Markham Theatre. 22 Esna Park Dr, Markham, ON L3R 1E1, Canada.
This special performance, funded by the government and hosted by the Fengcai Arts Association, was co-organized by the Xian Ge Guzheng Ensemble and the Ruby Art Troupe. The concert featured a variety of performances, including the Xian Ge Guzheng Ensemble led by teacher Qin Ziwen, a Guzheng and Cello duet “Floating Light,” a powerful drum performance of “Horse Racing,” Peking Opera and singing performances, a distinctive Korean dance “Yangshan Road,” a Jiangnan-style umbrella dance “Lady in the Rainy Alley,” a lively Yi ethnic dance “Ajielu,” a Mongolian-style clarinet performance “Nomadic Times,” and a square dance “Ascending the Spring Mountain.”
